Equity requires that all students receive appropriate services and opportunities for talent development. A challenge for the educational community centers on best practice for nurturing underrepresented youth. Recent research highlights the importance of art education for brain development. This presentation provides scientific research on the reason for art education as a tool for talent development for underrepresented youth. Focused primarily for pre-6 educators this workshop combines scientific research with classroom activities. Gifted students exist in all communities; it is our responsibility to create background knowledge to build capacity.
